Occurring every other year, the Intercity Visit is taken to engage in collective community visioning through best practices and lessons learned from other successful communities. The city is chosen based on a number of vital elements facing our own community. For our 2019 Trip, the following factors were profiled: Innovative Public Schools, Leveraging Universities and Colleges, Talent & Skills Development, Entrepreneurship, Young Professionals, Urban Infill, Development, and Identity. After much research, our committee has chosen Louisville, KY as our destination.
In 2017, trip participants traveled to Columbus, OH to explore successes, challenges, best practices, and lessons learned that have contributed to the city?s vibrancy. Specific focus on issues important to the Greensboro business community included talent and skills development as it relates to workforce development, entrepreneurship, how the Columbus addressed issues surrounding poverty, city branding, and identity as well as community and university engagement.
